Is knob-and-tube wiring dangerous?
It is not automatically unsafe, but it was never designed for the load a modern home puts on it, it has no ground, and decades of alterations and insulation often make it a real risk. If your home still has it, we can inspect what is there and give you an honest plan instead of an automatic panic.
Do I have to rewire the whole house at once?
Not usually. Many older homes only need the worst circuits or a specific area rewired, and we can stage the work in phases to fit your budget. We start with what actually matters for safety and tell you honestly what can wait.
Why do insurers ask about aluminum or knob-and-tube wiring?
Because both have a higher fire-risk history, some insurers will not write a policy, or will charge more, until the wiring is updated or properly remediated. We do the corrective work and document it so you can satisfy the insurer or a home buyer.
Can you rewire without gutting my walls?
Often, largely yes. Experienced electricians can fish new wire through walls and ceilings with small, strategic access holes instead of opening everything. Some patching is normal, but we keep the damage to the minimum the house allows and tell you what to expect first.
